Purpose:

To provide education and training in specific work-related tasks and responsibilities to equip food handlers with skills and knowledge necessary to handle food safely and prevent foodborne illness.

Scope:

Practices and behaviors that are proven to be or are likely to be those of food service workers.

Intended Learning Outcomes:

Identify terms and concepts associated with foodborne illness.
Identify health and hygiene requirements.
Identify time and temperature control requirements.
Identify requirements for receiving food deliveries.
Recognize food contamination prevention concepts.
Recognize requirements for cleaning, sanitizing and chemical use.

Requisites to Earn the Certificate:

Have access to a computer and the internet and possess basic computer skills for navigating the website and training program. Participate in the self-paced learning event, going through all the program material and completing each lesson quiz. Verify achievement of the learning outcomes by obtaining a passing score on the final exam.
